Employee gradation policy
Employee gradation policy is determined by skill differentiation, position within the organization, duties and responsibilities, job profile, etc.
Example of gradation in the manufacturing industry
For a manufacturing industry, for example, unskilled - Gr 1, semi-skilled - Gr 2, skilled - Gr 3, highly skilled - Gr 4, supervisory staff/office staff - Gr 5, Jr. Engineer - Gr 6, Asst. Engineer/Asst. Manager - Gr 7, Sr. Engineer/Manager - Gr 8, Sr. Manager/Dy. GM - Gr 9, GM - Gr. 10, and so on.
International job gradation systems
Many international organizations have established job gradation systems. Watson Wyatt is one such organization worldwide that has developed job gradation structures for different countries. In India, there are consultancy services that, after conducting a detailed job analysis, offer job gradation services for a professional fee.
