Dear All, It would be Greate help for me if some one can provide me calculation procedure of Pf,ESI& gratuity in Excel sheets. Thanks Payal
3rd November 2007 From India, Calcutta
Hi Payal,
ESI is contributed from both the sides Employee as well as Employer.
It is been calculated on the basis of Gross salary per month and the maximum ceiling is 10000 Rs./Month.
The contribution from both the sides is as below-
Employee Side- 1.75% of gross/month
So if gross of an employee is 8000/month then
ESI contribution would be 8000*1.75% = 140 Rupees
Employer side- 4.75% of gross/month
ESI contribution would be 8000* 4.75% = 380 Rupees.
Where as PF is contributed @12% of basic salary only from both sides employee as well as employer..
Regards,
Amit Seth.

Dear Payal,
To the excell sheet provided by grhrm, please apply a condition that If Gross > 10000, ESI contribution is Zero. So that it can directly read Zero value for people having salary greater than Rs.10000

I have changes my job last year. I have transferred my PF from my last employeer to the currently employeer pf account. For past few months I was trying to find out the status of PF transfer. I finally got the details from my prev. employeer. I am having a doubt that there has been some mistake and the amount transferred is not correct.
I have been in working with my prev. employeer from Aug 2003 till oct 2006. I have contributed x rupees toward the PF. As per my understanding the employeer will also contribute the same amount. Also the interest will be added to this amount. But the total amount transferred is much less. I have contacted my prev. employeer for details but i doubt i will get a proper response. Is there a way that I can find this information from PF office.
Thanks

ESI is contributed from both the sides Employee as well as Employer.
It is been calculated on the basis of Gross salary per month is 10000 Rs./Month less than only then ESIC is applicable.
The contribution from both the sides is as below-
Employee Side- 1.75% of gross/month
So if gross of an employee is 10000/month then
ESI contribution would be 10000*1.75% = ### Rupees per employee
Employer side- 4.75% of gross/month
ESI contribution would be 10000* 4.75% = ### Rupees per employee
Where as PF is contributed @12% of basic salary only from both sides employee as well as employer..
Employer PF break-up is 3.67--Provident Fund and 8.33 will be for pension fund as on date 8-Jan-2009.
regards
Gopal

Dear All,
Can you please tell me whether the Overtime Allowance is to be included while calculating the ESI?
For example, an employee is getting Rs.8000/- as Gross Salary and his Overtime Allowance is Rs.1000/-.
In this case, whether we have to include the Overtime Allowance also to calculate the ESI for both Employee & Employer's contribution.
Please clarify and if you have any proof for this, please it send to my e-mail ID which is mentioned below.

Hi payal,
As per my opinion the EPF = is calculated 12% of Basic and hat would be the amount come, same amount would be added from employers side. ie. if the EPF comes "X" then the amount go in the employees account would be "X+X" every organization whose no of employees is more then 20 must registered EPF.
For ESI = Employees whose salary is more then 6500 and less then 10,000, falls under ESI. the deduction are
Employees' contribution - 1.75% of Basic
Employers contribution - 4.75% of Basic
and the employees whose Basic salary is more then 10,000 for them Pf is optional.

Now this limit is changed. Now this limit goes up to 15000. If any employee whose gross is under 15000, will be liable for ESI deductions.

The excel sheet is wrong in because employers contribution to PF is not 12% . Along with 12% you need to add 1.61 as admin charges. PF ceiling is 6500 not 10, 000. and ESIC ceiling is 15000.
