I am interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in management. I have completed dual specializations in marketing and HR. Please suggest some good institutes for a part-time Ph.D. and also recommend some good topics to move forward.

Hi Christopher, thank you so much for your valued reply. How about joining IGNOU? I also got some information about it. Can you suggest some good topics to research on? Please provide guidelines on how to proceed further after finalizing a topic.

Regards,
Deepti

IGNOU is also a good place, but you have to consider the tenure. If it's for 4 to 5 years, there are chances for you to drop it, but if it's short-term, you can finish it off. Working people will always face many hindrances, so make a choice based on tenure.

Choosing Topics in HR

With respect to topics, decide on the institution first, then you can choose any emerging topic in HR. We talk about the change agent, Gen X & Y, and many more.

There is a methodology for research that will be provided to you by your tutor/guide.

It all depends on your industry of interest. Being specific, here are some good topics:

1. A study on concerns and problems faced by women employees in the outsourcing industry. Such a study can cover organizational issues, women's safety, and organizational liabilities, etc.

2. A study on the role of networks in career progression in MNC (Multinational Corporation) companies in India.

3. A study on the role of non-monetary incentives in motivating middle-level management.

4. A study on the role of knowledge management as a change methodology in organizations.
