Hi, since you will be conducting a formal survey, go about it by asking open-ended questions about things like salary, work-life balance, etc. According to the operational definition you plan to use for your survey - after you have gathered the factors from your target group - you can form a general questionnaire for your survey.

JOB SATISFACTION SURVEY for teaching staff.

Please use this site. You should modify the questions to suit your needs. www.gse.harvard.edu/~newscholars/ downloads/survey_2003.pdf

Dear Amit,

Your questions should give a positive impact and not a negative one. For example, a question should be, "What gives you pride to be associated with our institute?" It should not be directly asking if you feel pride or not. Similar questions should be framed in this manner.
