Hi Dinesh,

Thank you very much for the reply. I would like to inform you that I am a female and would be really thankful to you if you can help me out with how my salary slip will look. I am not having my PF deducted because it was my wish. I need help to verify if the salary slip I am receiving is correct. I would like to understand in detail if you can assist me; it would be a great favor from your side. I want to know the salary breakdown with all the percentages and contributions of each slab.

I am awaiting a positive response.

Dear Mr. Dinesh,

If you are calculating Profession Tax for Maharashtra, then your calculation is incorrect. The correct calculation is as follows:

PT Slab for Maharashtra:
1) 5001 to 10000 - 175
2) 10001 and above - 200

For the month of February, it is 300, so the total calculation amounts to 2500 per year. There is no Profession Tax for salaries below 5000.

Thank you.

Hi Ravi,

The TDS will be calculated on the gross salary, but the employer will break it down as follows: basic/HRA/transport allowance/medical travel allowance. Rs. 800/- will be exempt from TDS. Additionally, to reduce the tax, you can produce the rent you paid to the landlord, which will also be exempt. A formula will apply for the same.

I want to know all the figures of my salary slip. My gross salary is 17k. I want to know what will be the figure of my Basic salary, HRA, Transport Allowance, Bonus if applicable, CCA, and the deductions like Professional tax. My PF is not getting deducted and TDS is also not getting deducted. Also, I want to know how to calculate all these things when I am having a gross of 17k because I don't know anything about the salary slip. Whenever I ask my Accounts department, I am not satisfied with the answers they provide. Kindly help me out. I would also like to mention that among the 17k, my incentives are 2000 per month.

Hi,

I want to know my salary slip figures and the proper breakup of my salary. My salary is 17k, among which I have an incentive of Rs 2000 each month. Apart from that, I would like to know what my basic salary (in the slip it is 6700), HRA (in the slip it is 3000), Transport Allowance is 800, and incentive is 2000. My deduction is only professional tax, which is 150. My TDS is not getting deducted, and also the PF, so I want to know if all these figures are correct. How do I calculate these figures? Also, when I am getting an incentive in the slip, is TDS applicable to me or not? I also want to know the difference between TDS, income tax, and service tax.

Thanks

Hello Alfia,

Professional tax is totally different from Income Tax (TDS). PT is as per the Sales Tax department, and the rate in MP, I don't have any idea, but in Maharashtra:

0 to 5000: NIL
5001 to 10000: 175/- per month
10001 and above: 200 per month, and in the month of February 300/-

Income Tax (TDS) is another department and deducted as per the slab of income tax after various exemptions and deductions.
