Hi, All, I have completed my graduation from EIILM (Eastern Institute for Integrated Learning in Management) University in 2008. At that time, the university was UGC approved, but it is currently not on the UGC list as of 31-03-2019. Previously, I worked with top reputed banks (ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank) for six years and submitted the same documents to them. My problem is that if HR suddenly says my university is not valid, where is my fault? They should have informed me before joining IndusInd Bank so that I could have continued my job at HDFC Bank. After one month of joining, they are informing me of this and telling me to either resign or face termination from IndusInd Bank.
This is an injustice to me. I don't have any job in my hand, and I am the only earning member in my family. I am also going to become a father soon and have many responsibilities. No one is supporting or giving me exact replies at the ground level. Since the day of joining, I have not received my salary, yet I am delivering business daily because I am passionate about banking. My immediate reporting manager doesn't call in my favor; instead, he asks me for business daily, and I am delivering.
My personal life is hampered, and I have taken money from the market and friends on interest to pay my home rent and manage my day-to-day expenses and EMI. I also took a credit card of 15,000 after two days of joining, as suggested by my reporting manager.
Why didn't HR verify my documents during my three-month notice period? All my documents were with them. After my employee ID was issued and my email was active, they suddenly informed me over the call that I should leave the organization or face termination. Why would I get terminated? Did I commit any fraud with the bank? When I requested HR to give me in writing what was told over the phone, they denied it, saying the bank doesn't provide such written statements. They said I should resign, or a termination letter would come soon.
To connect with HR, I have called them numerous times, but they never receive my calls on time, nor do they call back. My seven-year experience is now spoiled. I am in a deep depression and can't sleep well every day. Please help resolve my issue, and I am expecting justice from you.

Hi Viraj, it seems you have the upper hand here. The reason the company is so keen to make you resign is that, legally speaking, they cannot terminate you. Right now, you have every right to approach the labor court, stating that you are working for the company but your salary is not being paid to you.
If the company has to terminate you, they have to mention the reason as "fraudulent joining," for which it is difficult to provide proof in court. It is not your fault if the university you graduated from ten years ago has suddenly been removed from the UGC list now. The company would have to provide evidence of any investigation dating back to or focusing on events at the time you graduated, which is not possible.
So, just stay calm and first notify the company to formally provide you in writing why they find you unfit for your current position and also provide a notification to pay your salary on time. It is alright to let them know that you would like to check the validity of the explanations with your lawyer, as this creates a career and livelihood-damaging impact for you. Let's see what they can provide on the details of their findings and evidence.
