Hi, All State Government issued a notification to all Pvt Institutions to declare as Paid Holiday in view of Elections 2024. If the company can compensate the holiday? Is it acceptable or not as per the rule?

Hi, As per notification you should declare compulsory holiday.

Every employee is entitled to vote for which a paid holiday should be given to all employees. There few aspects to be noted. It's obvious there are "essential workers" who are called to work on 'election day' also. By all means they should facilitated to vote by adjusting in their shift timings. But it's not always possible. For e.g. running staff of public utitlities-railways, airways, transports, hospitals, fire services, security etc. Those employees cannot have the practicality of voting in their regd.constituencies. They are also not eligible to poll postal ballots also. In such a situation they have to be compensated. There's no other go.

I agree with Mr. Kumar S. Except for the employees on essential services, all should be given paid Holiday for allowing them to vote.
