Exploring HR Beyond Recruitment: How Can I Broaden My Career Path?

j-p
Greetings everyone! I work as a recruiter at a consultancy firm. I have a year of experience in this field. I have worked on recruiting various technical and non-technical positions for the NBFC sector. My aim is to gain work experience in other vital functions in HR beyond recruitment. I am uncertain about how to proceed further. Any advice or suggestions from all of you would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, JP

Hi, you need to look for an HR Generalist profile (end-to-end process) within a mid-sized organization. You have already gained experience in sourcing and should now aim to acquire knowledge in other areas under the supervision of a superior.

You can try for a position in a manufacturing company; thereby, you can acquire knowledge of other facets of HR. Working in a consultancy company and working in a manufacturing company are entirely different.

Hi @Vmlakshminarayanan, thank you for your reply. I would like to learn a couple of things if you may help.

Skills for an HR General Profile

1. Are there any specific skills that I can focus on before giving an interview for an HR General profile?

Industry Remuneration

2. What is the standard industry remuneration for the role with an experience of 1-3 years?

Hi! @P RADHAKRISHNAN NAIR Thank you for your kind advice. I was fortunate to get into one of the reputed organizations in the battery manufacturing industry through college campus placements. I could not continue in that role due to severe health issues. However, I will consider your advice for future opportunities. I am aware of the learning benefits in manufacturing industries for HR.

Hi JP, self-confidence in your skills and abilities, along with a desire to learn new things supported by a can-do attitude, is essential. You should be able to convince the prospective employer that you can take up the assignment and manage the show.

Remuneration depends on the employer. At this point, please don't focus on the salary part. Learning and opportunities for growth are important. Once you gain experience, salary will not be a constraint.
