Employer not issuing reliving letter!!!

Hello all,

I had worked for an organization for 8 months. I got a better offer and decided to resign the organization. My notice period was for 3 months but the new employer said they cant wait that long and asked me to request for an early release. So during my resignation i requested the previous employer for early release. The CEO tried to retain me and said not to leave and will revise salary in next month but did not match the new offer. So, when I denied saying I cant he was like ok and said you are released immediately. He gave me a acceptance of my resignation on my resignation mail and asked the HR to release me by EOD. I did complete all my exit formalities and etc. Now its been 20 days but now the old employer is saying he will not give me reliving letter as i did not serve any notice period even though he gave me acceptance to my resignation. If he didnt want me to leave he could have said no i had just requested i was not absconding or anything like that. Now the new employer is asking for reliving letter and this is basically my 2nd job so idk what to do. The old organization being a startup kindof thing HR dont have any say in that and CEO takes the decision and he said not to issue it to me.

Can somebody help me what should i do now and how can i get reliving letter???

Hi,

You can explain the situation to your new employer. Present to them that based on their advise you had requested for early relieving with past employer whereas they relieved you immediate without relieving letter. You can present the resignation acceptance letter as a proof. The way your past employer handled the exit process is not right.
