Dual Employment Got Me Fired and Blacklisted – Can I Still Salvage My Career?

Elite
My company terminated me because of dual employment, and they have now blacklisted me. How will I get a new job? Is my career completely destroyed?

Hi, You shouldn't have joined another company without being properly relieved by your previous company. Now that they have terminated your services, you are free to join any company. However, you will not be able to provide an experience certificate. Also, in case of any background verification by your new employer, your old company will only provide negative feedback. Since your old employer has blacklisted you, they will not consider you for rehire.

This situation does not mark the end of your career.
You can try to join a company that does not insist on experience or a relieving order.

Learn from the mistake you made and ensure you do not repeat it at any cost.

Wishing you all the best!

The modern-day terminology for your act is called moonlighting, as per Wipro's recent notification. It is basically considered unethical. It is possible you might have done it out of ignorance, over-enthusiasm, or because you found it exciting. However, you have paid the price for that act. Move forward in life. Please do not repeat the mistakes. You can admit it yourself to your future employer—the mistake you committed, the lesson you have learned, and assure them that you will not repeat the mistake in the interest of your professional career.

Best wishes

Are you able to get the job now? I am in a similar situation right now.

I was also in the same situation. The solution is:

Keep on giving interviews

Keep on giving interviews, and you will get a job. Don't stress out. Time will fix everything.

Set expectations

Set the expectation: I will give 30 interviews, out of which at least 1 company will understand and will give me a job.

Tips for Overcoming Blacklisting by a Previous Employer

When facing being blacklisted by a previous employer, finding a new job can be challenging but not impossible. Here are some tips to help you in this situation:

1. Be honest about your blacklisting when asked about previous employment.
2. Explain the situation positively, focusing on your desire for self-improvement.
3. Highlight your skills and experience relevant to the new job, rather than dwelling on the past.
4. Be persistent in your job search and don't give up.
5. Remember that being blacklisted doesn't mean the end of your career. Many companies don't check references or blacklist employees.

With honesty, a positive outlook, and perseverance, you can overcome the challenges of being blacklisted and find a new job to rebuild your career.
