Fake experience certificate - Due to some personal and health issues, I couldn't go to work for 1 year

Sujeesh@345
I resigned from my previous company 1.6 years ago. Due to some personal and health issues, I couldn't go to work for 1 year. Later, when I tried for a job, the major problem all the recruiters were pointing out was my career gap. So, I made a fake experience certificate and applied for two jobs. But I didn't receive any offers from them, and I didn't use those fake certificates anywhere else. Now that I have got a job, when they do a background verification, will they find out about the fake experience certificate I created, and will that be a problem?

Dear Sujeesh,

You mentioned that a career gap of 1.6 years was a hindrance in getting a job. To overcome this challenge, you faked an experience letter. However, the fake letter was of no use as even with it, you did not secure a job. Now, your question is whether having used a fake letter will create problems in the future. However, you have not clarified whether you obtained your current job using the fake letter or not.

If you did not use the fake letter to obtain your current job, then that's great news. The past attempts to secure a job with the fake letter are inconsequential. However, if you did use it, it could create problems in the future. This is because imitation is always weak, and when exposed, it can cause irreparable damage.

Thanks,

Hi Dinesh,

No, I haven't used fake experience to get my new job. I explained to my HR why there is a gap, and they were convinced by my answer.

So, as per your answer, my fake experience won't create any problem for me in the near future as I haven't joined any company using the same. Right?

I actually got a job from the companies I applied to using fake certificates, but I didn't accept the offers as somewhat I didn't feel it's the right way.
