Workforce planning & required reports for a software company

Hi All,
Iam working as a HR in a software company ,we are about 300+ employees all over India.I would request anyone of you to let me know on how to automate the manual process related to Project wise employee data,individual or team wise productivity etc.

To understand and answer your query, we need few details like:
1) Is the report which you are liking for related to human resource information system wherein all basic personal details of employees and their departmental movement tracking is available.
2) Productivity report is a part of performance management system which is not related directly to HRIS but can have slight impact with internal movement of employee. Are you looking for setup of performance management system?
3) Which system your company has adopted, is there any reports formed and maintained in excel sheets or you have got a software for such activities.
Please provide the above details in specific so that you query can be answered with relevancy.

We have internal software which we use to capture the basic employee details ,where as you mentioned the productivity report in terms of team & individual is being prepared by us manually in form of excel sheets.
Basis the excel sheets , we prepare PPT's which gives an analysis of our profit or revenue details which will help us to understand and improve the process .
We would like automate this process & make it more effective & systematic .

Hi Hima,
So basically what you are looking for is an automation of performance management system. Although there are several tools/software available in the market which supports your requirement however before being getting into automation, one has to understand the basic concepts and principles of PMS.
The reason behind every PMS is to check regular that employees are synchronized with management set goals for the defined period. In order to verify this, several PMS system like BARS, 360 Degree, management by objective, Assessment Center, Critical Incident Technique, Essay Evaluation and other are adopted and implemented. However often companies tend to forget or skip the alignment of human resources with basics. A manual understanding of each method is critically required. Analyzing why and which method is required is a key factor as per environment and conditions of the business of SBU.

Dear Hima,
If you wish to capture productivity of the project personnel then there are software available on Project Management, why not to use it? In your second post, you have written that you measure manually the work done by the project personnel. Introduction of software will eliminate your manual work. Again it depends on the type of the software that you choose.
Mr Harpreet Walia has recommended the introduction of PMS. While PMS is organisation-wide intervention PMS does not cover the granular aspects of the day to day work. However, the software on project management could assist development of PMS.
