Hi,

Please advise on whether an employee can work for 14 hours in a day. This pertains to him working at our site office which deals with manpower working in shifts at customer locations.

Regards,

Dear Samvedana,

You have not mentioned the type of customer location where your site office is located - whether it is a factory, mine, oilfield, or any other type of establishment involving shift work. Whatever it may be, as far as I know, no law permits working 14 hours a day.

No law permits working beyond a maximum of 9 hours a day with at least a half-hour break.
