Employee Resigns and Joins Sister Company: Do We Need to Link Their UAN?

If an employee of ABC Pvt Ltd resigns and joins ABC Incorporation, does the employer need to link the employee's UAN account in the UAN employer portal? This is in the case where the PF authorized person is the same for both companies.

Once an employee resigns and joins the same company the next day, they will be considered a new employee. You will need to provide them with a new PF number, but you are also required to update their UAN number with the new EPF number.

The situation is that ABC Pvt Ltd and ABC Incorporation are owned by the same employer, and the same person is authorized for all PF-related matters.

Here, the question is whether you have the same code number or two different code numbers with EPFO. If you have the same code, then you need not do anything for UAN. But if he is covered under a new code number, then you should treat him as a new employee, and his previous UAN is to be given while linking in the new code number. Hope this clarifies your stand.
