Notice Period Dilemma: How Do You Calculate Remaining Days for Early Relieving?

Notice Period Calculation Query

I have a query on the notice period calculation. In our organization, we have a policy of serving a 90-day notice period after an employee resigns. My query is: If an employee requests early relieving, how should we calculate the remaining days of the notice period? For example, if he has served 45 days, will we have to consider the weekend for the remaining days of the notice period or is it only weekdays?

Option 1: 90 days - 45 days (including the weekends)
Option 2: 90 days - only the remaining working days and adjust with the balance annual leaves he has?

I would appreciate it if anyone can guide me in understanding the correct way of addressing this.

Notice Period Calculation Clarification

The notice period is 90 days, which is inclusive of all days, i.e., working days, holidays, and weekly offs. Therefore, if the employee has served 45 days, the remaining days must be adjusted from their leave balance or their Full and Final settlement. I hope this clarifies your query.

Regards.
