Is There a Law Governing Conveyance Allowance Like PF and ESIC? Seeking Guidance!

Dear HR Friends, I have a query about conveyance allowance. Similar to PF and ESIC, is there any act that governs the conveyance allowance? I am not aware of any such act. Kindly help.

Conveyance Allowance and Income Tax Exemption

Conveyance allowance is not governed by any specific Act. However, it is exempted from Income Tax as per IT rules, up to Rs. 800/- per month.

Thanks for the reply. However, I am confused. If it is not governed under any act, then who decides the minimum and maximum amount of conveyance allowance? Also, my other query was on the applicability of ESIC on conveyance allowance. The ambiguity is whether it is mandatory to provide conveyance allowance to employees under the very name of conveyance allowance.

Please help me understand.
