How Small Acts of Kindness Can Create a Big Impact: What Difference Are You Making?

p_gajra
In continuation of my previous posts:

There was a man taking a morning walk at the beach. He saw that along with the morning tide came hundreds of starfish, and when the tide receded, they were left behind. With the morning sun rays, they would die. The tide was fresh, and the starfish were alive. The man took a few steps, picked one, and threw it into the water. He did that repeatedly. Right behind him, there was another person who couldn't understand what this man was doing. He caught up with him and asked, "What are you doing? There are hundreds of starfish. How many can you help? What difference does it make?" This man did not reply, took two more steps, picked up another one, threw it into the water, and said, "It makes a difference to this one."

What difference are we making? Big or small, it does not matter. If everyone made a small difference, we'd end up with a big difference, wouldn't we?

Well said. We have also read that one drop of water can help in making the sea and also in destroying it.

Very true! If everyone contributes like this, it will create a great difference for many lives. One has to initiate from somewhere.

It's very true that small things can make a big difference. Each rupee counts when you are looking for a big amount. So start making changes in yourself and in others as well.

Yes, we all must commit ourselves to make a difference where we can. Let's not judge others on what they do or don't do; instead, focus on doing what we can individually.

Yes, absolutely right. If each one of us starts thinking this way, it will ultimately make a huge difference to the world, and it will become an even more beautiful place to live in. Good luck to all my friends who think similarly.

Everyone can contribute their squirrel's share for any renaissance to be brought about. A little thought and a little time are what is required for a noble cause.

Thanks for sharing a nice story!

This message can be a watchword for at least the HR people who are catalytic agents in an organization.

Good one, Pawan Ji. Many people start criticizing without trying or taking initiative. It doesn't matter if it makes a small or big difference—just try and keep trying to make a small difference. Who knows, someone may get inspiration from it, or someone may join you or initiate a great change. Stay positive, stay cool, keep trying. 

I'm greatly impressed by your story. It's a challenge to mankind. If only all of us decide to do just a little good, our world will be a better place.

Here is an interesting presentation where small things have a great impact. Please go through it and circulate it within your organizations to make a greater impact in reducing deforestation, which is the need of the hour for all of us.

Regards.

The story once again reminds us that we need not do great things or good to many people, but if we can do good things even to one person honestly, it goes a long way. Mr. Mohammed Samir has aptly quoted Neil Armstrong's words when he first landed on the Moon. Though many of us know this story, your posting keeps reminding us of this fundamental principle to do good in our way, at least to a few people, trying to bring a smile to their life and wiping off their tears to lead a good and meaningful life.

These types of reinforcement are necessary for us in life. Many thanks for the posting.
