Struggling with Explaining a 1-Year Job Gap: How Can I Tackle Interview Questions?

surbhik
Hi,

I have 2 years of job experience, but for the last 1 year, I have not been working anywhere. I have been looking for a suitable job but unable to get one because of some salary issues or shift problems. I face a problem when an interviewer asks me to explain my 1-year employment gap, as I do not make any fake excuses and simply say that I have been searching for a suitable job.

I am very much depressed and frustrated because I am not getting any job now, as I cannot explain my employment gap properly. This is the biggest reason for not cracking the interview.

Please help me by suggesting some relevant excuses for my employment gap so that an interviewer can understand and not doubt me.

Friend, I am in the same stage now. There is a one-year gap in my employment, but I have started searching for a job again in the last month. If you have found a solution to this, kindly guide me as well.

Being depressed and frustrated over a significant issue like being without a job for a year is no small matter. What you need to do is to polish your social, communication, and interpersonal skills and change your stance to one of optimism. The moment you start sensing the colors of spring, your outlook towards life and relationships changes, enabling you to approach any employer with a positive attitude. Regardless of the reason for your joblessness, NEVER tell a lie to a prospective employer. You will be appreciated for being honest, and it may well be the reason for you being selected for a job.

Thank you.
