Curious About Salary Verification? How Do Companies Confirm Past Pay Packages?

Sidd221
Hi,

I am new to the forum, and this is my first post. I work for a renowned consultancy in Pune. Can someone please tell me how a company or a Background Verification Agency verifies the last drawn salary or the pay package for a particular candidate with their ex-employer?

Also, I have observed that companies do provide information such as the employee's tenure with the company, their designation, behavior, etc., but they are reluctant to disclose the pay package for an ex-employee. Can someone shed some light on how the process works? 💡

Thanks for the support.

Dear Sidd,

Most organizations will not disclose confidential information. Questions regarding salary are very sensitive and critical to a company. For salary verification, why don't you ask the employee to provide a pay slip, a copy of the offer letter, etc.?

No organization will give you this sort of information in writing, but if you ask them tactfully, they might give you some idea.

Dear Friend,

Thank you for the reply. Nowadays, most candidates also fake their salary slips and offer letters. I have come across cases wherein candidates have genuinely been working with a particular MNC but have falsified their salary figures in their salary slips. So, I just wanted to know if the background verification teams have any foolproof way to tackle these kinds of cases.

Thanks.

Hi!

You asked the candidate to provide the salary slip as well as his bank account statement where his salary is being deposited by the ex-employer.
