Dear All,

The recession has affected employees' motivation to a great extent. I am looking forward to your inputs on engaging employees during this difficult time. How can we engage our employees in this challenging phase to help them stay energetic and motivated?

Hi Shalini,

You can fix a day, maybe Friday or Saturday, and have the second half scheduled for activities like team-building games, competitions, quizzes, etc. You need not have a prize for the same. Also, if you go through the thread on Fish Philosophy activities on this site, you'd get a lot of inputs. Incorporate it, and you will definitely be able to make a difference.

Jancy

I don't think top management will spend money on this. So, it's better to plan for in-house activities that don't require funding. The feeling of insecurity will definitely affect motivation and productivity. HR has a tremendous responsibility at this time.

1. You can plan for in-house evening parties with some team games.
2. Avoid sharing recession/layoff news from company blogs.
3. Circulate content that generates more positive energy among team members.
4. Consider planning for team outings/lunches/dinners by contributing your own money.
