Job Hunting After Army Retirement: Seeking Your Advice for a New Start in Bangalore

Wirus
Dear members,

I am a retired short-service officer of the Indian Army. Presently, I am looking for a job, preferably in Bangalore, but I am willing to relocate to other places. I desperately need your guidance on how to job hunt in the current scenario. Suggestions from all are welcome.

Thank you.

It's pretty sad to note that even with 71 views, no suggestions have come forth. I am just asking for your opinions and suggestions, not job openings per se. Maybe this clears the confusion and hesitation.

Hi,

I think one of the ways is to contact your seniors who came out of the Army and are already working in HR or other teams in other companies. The second option is to submit your resumes to consultants. The third option is to register your resume on job sites. The fourth option is to build your network through various networking sites such as LinkedIn, Yahoo groups, etc.

Before you adopt any of these options, it is mandatory that you understand your strengths and have a specific job you are looking for as you might have multitasked in the Army. Your resume should highlight all the above so that you have a high success ratio in terms of interview calls, especially in these challenging times.

Thanks and Regards,
Siva

Hello,

Can you please email your resume to me at taj@sphinxresources.com? We are currently seeking a senior ex-services person for one of our clients, but I cannot make any promises at this point. Let's take it step by step and address any challenges as they arise.

Regards,

Thank you, Mr. Siva and Mr. TS, for your replies. I am working on the solutions you mentioned, Mr. Siva, but no concrete results have been seen yet. Can contacting the HR department of organizations directly help in any way? I am wondering...!!!

Dear Sir,

My pleasure, I received your profile. Even I am from Bangalore. I will talk to some of my HR friends. Take care, sir.

Hello as1686 for your kind comments.

As for others who aren't helping, I would like to view it this way—maybe they aren't in a position to help, or maybe they are too busy with their own challenges in life. There could be numerous possibilities to consider. The last point, of course, is what you mentioned as well. However, let's not pass judgments on things or people we don't know much about.

And let me tell you that I am saying this NOT because I haven't had any such experiences in life. I have had plenty of them—so many that quite a few relationships fell by the wayside (see my blog on this site to get an idea). Nevertheless, I still don't think it's wise to generalize and put everyone in the same basket. I don't know if this is called optimism, but that's just how life is.

By the way, just remember a quote about the optimist: "The optimist invented the aeroplane, and the pessimist invented the parachute."

Lecture bahut ho gaya naa :-D

TS

Dear Ts,

I can understand their circumstances, but when we see some replies or information provided by these HR to some of the silliest and non-useful things, I feel very frustrated.

Coming to your thoughts, I can make out it's very experienced and mature, thanks for sharing.

On a lighter note, a parachute led man to think about inventing the plane.
