Dear Monika

I am not all that experienced as the others who have advised you are, but I would like to share my experience(s) with you. I graduated from a Tier-I engineering college (CSE) with a fat-pay-offer (on-campus) at hand. I was not very keen on getting into IT and wanted to do an MBA or take up an alternate, non-conventional career.

But unfortunately/fortunately (unfortunately because I stayed unemployed for a year, and fortunately, I did not have to take up a traditional job!), it was the IT recession when I got out of college. While most of the companies had delayed joining dates of fresh hires by a year or so, my company was kind enough to push the date by 3 months. Again, the company rolled back the offer as they could not see where they would fit a person without experience. Well, that was the way things started.

With no job or plans with me, I dedicated a whole two months in deciding what my career should be, and how I will draw up my own path. I studied the US economic trends of the last 50 years. I decided to get into recruitment, then do an MBA(which I have not done yet). I also decided to make career shifts for the initial 5-7 years of work. It has been 2 odd years since I got into recruitment now. My hikes have been in the range of 30-50% consistently, I make more money that my IT peers (not with just a fulltime job, but another 2 part-time jobs as well)

Things move on, just keep your focus and decide what you want to do before you do what you have to do.

You have a degree in law, you have a PD in HR. There are loads you can do with this combination (though I am not the right guy to career counsel). Check out the options you might have. Do what is best, and what you would love to do most.

Hi Monika,
Well your quote do not justify you stand of No experience - No Job, nowdays companies are not hiring on experience but they are hiring on Attitude, communication. The skills are later on added to the employees profile with effective training.
literacy always plays a very important role in creating once caeer. In your case where u are lawer and PGDBA in HRD. I am sure we know the concept of BPO, KPO, LPO, EPO. I know companies like Integron, who want to hire only lawyers for Legal Processing outsouring (LPO), which is highly paid job.
They are present in almost all the metros of India. You can try with them.
I can only say, all the best
Raza

Monica,
Don't get frustrated. You will get one good job because you have a nice qualification BL with HRM. Improve your skills in IR at Manufacturing Sectors, & Trade Union issues.
Please go through the case laws and industrial disputes and if possible get in touch with the Lobour officer near by your Organization.
regards,
Praveen
