hi Jay,
For your information the telecom operators do keep the records of the conversations happening with anyone. But They do not disclose it to anyone untill it is required by the police authorities.
Hope that helps you.

i dont think so they will be recording the all calls incoming and outgoing calls, only think they had system log in which they can note down call duration, location, timings, std code etc. even you can check the bills and even if they record they will keep are data purpose after the bills relased they delete the record.

I think the our conversation on cell phones is not recorded unless there is a demand for the same and such a demand must be legal. For criminal or other legal processes, I feel, the calls may be recorded.

Dear friend

1. No Tele-conversation is recorded in any Telephone Exchange.
2. The conversations are recorded only on request.
3. This request is not just based on an ordinary request. The request should have been approved by the competent authority.
Recording the conversation between two is an offence as per the Indian Telegraph Act.
4. However, the conversation will recorded if a direction is received from Government of India.
5. So you need not to bother whether all your conversations will be recorded.
6. In case your land line has a parallel connection the possibility of recording your conversation without your knowledge is not completely ruled out.
7. Finally why do you worry about your conversation being recorded when you do not indulge in anti social activities or any thing which is against the interest of any body or hurting others?
