Hi Abirami,
Tirupur is basically a nice place - where you can find people working hard to make money - not in rupees but in dollars.
It is neither a city nor a village - but it has been accorded with a CORPORATION STATUS recently by the TN GOVT.
Owing to the recent downtrend in US dollars, there is a temporary setback in the business, on a whole - but things will change in a couple of months, as exporters are already looking forward to get orders from European Countries.
It is well connected to Erode and Coimbatore by Train - so if you can't find a suitable place to stay (working women's hostel or some thing like that) you can commute from Coimbatore - where you have good potential for your career growth also.
I have a few clients and friends in Tirupur, from whom I can get you further information, if you require.
Just in case you need further information, please do write to me. (geta.erode@gmail.com)

Dear Abiramai
Very tough question to answer.
It has grown out of proportion so you will see all problems of a Corporation in the making. Cost, congestion, hygene., etc.
Again, the units are proprietor driven and I wonder what sort of recruitment or generalk function you will perform there.
A city so much dependant on one product............
Check, check, check, before you take a decision

Hi!
With the way things are going, Coimbatore will become a hotspot that it once was thanks to the textile industry.
In fact you will find that the people are nice even though they could seem conservative in that there is no wild partying etc etc.
But women are respected especially those who come in from the bigger pattanams.
It is really a good place to be over the next few years
Have a great career.

Dear abirami

Since IT is in downfall and Responsibilities you handle with corporate people may not have a sync with that of people in tiruppur

But i can assure you one good thing

The culture prevailing in tiruppur and coimbatore

you willl love the people until you stay alive

Safety no doubt about it, you will be 110% safe, because crime rate when compared to chennai it is only 10%

Traffic and supportive infrastructure are the two pitfalls tiruppur is recovering from

But if you get a chance to serve with a famous brand, my suggestion is that you can prove yourself and get easily noticed,

which will definitely help your career growth

Because of dollar downfall,HR is having its peak time to cut cost and bringing in largest reforms the industry has not seen from independence

Moreover it is a community driven industry and it will never mind respecting people who are working hard( Article about director of Royal Classic Group in BUSINESS WORLD july2007)

all this is a matter of courage and how you take it

since i am from Erode,i basically love my people and culture prevailing

sice you will have peace of mind and you will very wel enjoy the difference

take care

Hi ubtej
kindly turn your view about tiruppur
the comments you have said may not be 100% sure
Dont compare professional experience with factors such as entertainment
it seems that your comment directly means tiruppur is a filthy place and not suitable for living
still remember without IT chennai is a desert and filthy place to live
water problems are worser in chennai
cost of living and commuting facilities, traffic is too worse in chennai
Work timings, pollution is heavy in metros like chennai
you will have a humanitarian life instead of machine life
kindly consider your words and comments , while describing it in a professional community
Dont put your personal thoughts and feelings while guiding others
and most important dont give your personal e mail id since it means something different

Tirupur is a textile city and one among the 8 corporations in the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu and is an important trade center of India. Tirupur has gained universal recognition as the leading source of Hosiery, Knitted Garments, Casual Wear and Sportswear. It is located in Coimbatore district, 50 km east of Coimbatore. Tirupur is the seventh largest city in Tamil Nadu and is one of the fastest developing cities in the state. It has a wide range of factories which export all types of Knits fabrics and supply garments. The city is known for its hosiery exports and provides employment for about 600,000 people. Its safe to work there.
