Hi All,
It has been observed that most IT organisations recruit or promote a technology person to head their training and Development division.
I would like to know how far is this resource helpful in
1. identifying the training needs both at individual and corporate level
2. implenting mentoring pograms
3. involve career development of the employees
Would it be better ot employee an HR expert rather than a technology expert for the position

Dear Madhujit,
Hiring A Training & Development manager would enhance the organisation's productivity. A good training manager analysis the critical gaps in associates and provides training to ignite his/her performance. A good Effective Training Culture is a prequisite for an organization. Through training, organization's short term goals can be met and it also helps the associate in their career growth.
However the Training Manager must be a person having good people skills and potentials to move around , observe and identify the gaps.
Just Hire the right person and see the wonders that place.

Hi Lovita,
Welcome to citehr.com!!
Absolutely agree with your views on hiring an HR expert as T&D Manager..
Infact we HR professionals have to re-assess our skills and competencies and also keep in mind Dave Ulrich's four functional model for HR.
Look forward to your active participation and your views as well.
