Hi Priya,

for any of the recruitment process, the first important thing would be correct reume shortlisting. Our CiteHR member Sanket posted a topic yesterday with subject "Common Resume Mistakes". This topic is all about preparing the correct resume. But Priya, If you see it from the other angle, you would come to knoe the coprrect resume shortlisting. So, first of all do read that topic.

I believe that once you read that topic, you would be able to shortlist atleast 75% correct resumes. So, once you short list the candidates, it is now your turn to carry on with the intervies and get out with the best of the candidates. So, as per your saying you are gonna recruit guys for sales, so, do make a list of qualities he need to possess to be successful in that area. I can tell you some qualities...

1) He should defenitely have an excellent presence of mind ( So, do plan some of your questions in interview to check out his presence of my mind, say asking him a sudden question like "what is the color of pen your pocket at this moment?" after this, do take reading of his face expressions and make out if he is answering because he knows the color or using his mind to cope out with the situation.

2) He should be confident enough ( The simple way to judge whether the person is confident or not at the time of interview is to note down if he is making "eye to eye contact" with you or not. A person that hides something can never maintain "eye to eye contact". So, this is the best note for you to check his confidence at the time of interview.)

3) He should possess execellent communication skills ( It is easy to assess his communiction skills by the way he responds to you at the time of interview)

4) Find out if he is having any qualification relevant to the product he is going to sale ( this should be done at the time of resume shortlisting and at the time of interview you should test his touch in that field with the help of the product specialiast in your company)

I hope these points will help out or else you can let me know the specifics of the job type so that I will try to answer even in detail.

Kiran.

HI Priya,

You are always welcome to share any knowledge that I know regarding Hr or anything.

Regarding your question, If you are an MBA gradutae and if a frim is offering you only recruitment in your Job profile, I would say to spend some more time to find even better opportunity. I am not against to recruitment, but HR is not all about Recruitment. It do have many other functional areas like Appraisal, T&D, Attendence maintenance, organising events, payroll and lots of other stuff depending on the firm.

SO, once if you start going with Recruitment, you may get same kind of opportunities that are related to purely recruitment which will lead to loss of fun at your work place. So, better try to find a job which delas and covers with all other functional areas too of HR.

To be a bit more detail and specific, If you get into a BPO or Consulatncy services or like firms, their major work delas with recruitment, due to attrition rates in BPO and consultance being all about recruiting people and forwarding them for the companies. So, My advice is to look for a HR job in Software field or FMCG or other fields though the fuinal decision is yours.

Finally priya, this is my view point. Anyhow, if Recruitment is your passion go ahead and join it, but, think on what I said depending on your priorities for a better future of yours.

I wish you all good luck for your future and career.

Regards,

Kiran.

Hey Priya,
You really assigned a big task for me to do. But Priya, It is not wise to suggest you to join the job or not just depending on the company website and the name of the post.
Priya, Simply, check out your job profile for the job you are selected for. If you think that it is satisfying from the work point fo view and salary point fo view, you can thin on joining.
It would be even better if you consult some of your seniors or faculty and last, but not least, your parents.
Sorry for not giving you exact answer, beacause, it is your future and just do not want to advice you wrongly by any of the ways. SO, Better take advices from the people who know the facts about that company and stuff.
Wish you all the Best,
Regards,
Kiran.
