My earlier organisation was encouraging this and special additional allowance was given. This only encouraged total loyalty and commitment.

The same thing happens in my previous company. My previous company is a very reputed big company. but after their marriage, no body raised this issue. And, Moreover, it's been more than 1 year now that they r married and still working with the same company . As per my experience, both husband and wife can work in the same company.

My wife is working in the same organisation I work. One of the member said that wife and husband both leave together and this is problem. In my case, my wife leaves by 6 pm and I would leave by 9 pm. We have different vehicles. It depends on the nature of work and grade / designation. A senior staff cannot leave by 6 pm everyday or one will have to wait outside to pickup the other in case both travel together. Till now she calls "Sir" in my office. Many of our employees do not know that we are husband and wife as we maintain discipline. Hence there is no problem for us or for the organisation.

When I worked for Tata, in Estates off-late they started recruiting husband and wife because, as they can give Single House Accomodation to them. Otherwise the company has to maintain two houses. Allowing or not allowing depends on the company policy. There are pros and cons but if pros are more nothing wrong in working together. Companies which has high rate of internal politics and negative atmosphere normally think of not allowing married couples in the same office. However, working in different departments should not be a problem.

Many I times, working together was advantage for us and company. We need not go to two different offices. We can mentor each other during tough situations. Help each other in the official work (non confidential), if one has over load and one is free, or if needs guidance in certain assignments. Also interaction between two inter-dependent departments will be smooth etc. For ladies husband working with them is a security also etc.

what i have observed and still observing there is no such a big issue if husband and wife work in same organization. anyone has to be get married and perhaps we can loose good employees and it may create demotivation to all.

Terminating any employee without valid reason will attract legal complications if the terminated employee approach the court.
Other wise everything is fine in today's privatized world.
But in my personal opinion. Such termination could be justified if the standing orders of the company objects married couples working in the company and that is communicated to the concerned employees well in advance.
BUt what I don't understand is why company is bothered ?

Hi Ravi/Nitesh,
I strongly feel that its immaterial to the Organisation, whether two persons working under a single roof are having a intimate bonding like Marriage.
As Nitesh counted, Productivity would go down, cause two of them won't be able to sit late and also both will be on leave if one falls sick. Its all absurd as per my thinking. I don't have any intention to offend Nitesh. I am just stating my views.
Two Directors(Top Management) or Two Doctors or say any two professionals on the top management cadre, you will normally (under Indian circumstances) find them in family relationship or Marriage bonding.
Rules and Regulations, whether rational or irrational its meant to lower cadre staff and managers. No rules apply to anyone on the Higher top management - as per the time spend at office or for any other things.

There should not be any policies in HR Manual…..But the HR Some HR department should have the Rights to decide depending on the following :
..In which department do you work
. How big is the company …Total Number of employees.
No Problem if
-> If It's technical or Software ( Then there is no problem ).
--> Two different departments….it's there is no interaction between the two department
Problem If :
--> Big Problem IF : Both are from Sales or Marketing Department.
--> HR department
-->The Husband or wife should report to Wife or Husband.
You have be the decision maker ….

Hi ,
you need not remove any of them, rather u can be a best example saying wife and husband can work together without any problem, reminding their duties, treat them like employees not like husband and wife, remind them they should not work like husband and wife but must be like any other employee. Its all the mind set plays the game here. think positive.....

At present I am working in IT sector and what i have found here that boys are girl are getting marry among them self, Last year they 03 couples and I think at present about 8/10 husband and wife are working here.
Not only this some of our male employees both seniors and juniors are approaching for recruitment for their wife.
Our management belives that this will not affect the production, atmosphere as well as culture of the company
My personal observation is also positine as in my last 03 years of tanure here I rarely found that during office hour that husband and wife are talking to each other.
Legaly we cant do any thing forcefully we can do anything but with some hot & sweet souce.
