Please note that the Company has the right to reject any candidate based on the medical examination results. The Procedure of Medical Examination will be as follows: •A Candidate will undergo a medical examination, including being subjected to relevant test to determine the well being of the applicant, prior to joining, from a specified health Clinic or medical institution. The concerned individual’s joining will be subjected to having cleared his/her medical examination successfully. •HR will issue a slip / form specifying the test to be conducted, to the candidates for presentation to the company specified Health clinic or Medical Institution. The requisite fees for the medical examination will be paid to the Health clinic or Medical Institution directly by the company.

Dear Prashantha, I would like to add a little more info. to this as to why co.s lay great importance on medical exams.Firstly,to find out fitness level of concerned - whether or not one can perform the reqd job, secondly co.s do not want any medical claims or compensation that r heavy and thirdly to test for any communicable disease or substance abuse.

Hi. i had my pre-employment medical exams last week. they found out that i am hypertension suspect and obese and my weight doesn't proportioned to my height. (i am 5'7 and my weight is 165 LBS). my BP is 150/90 now. they asked me to have some further examinations like Fasting blood sugar, lipid profile, ECG and 1 week Blood Pressure monitoring before they clear me out. I am really worried that they might reject me. and not able to have this Job. do you think being a hypertensive cannot able to work? and do you think hospital like them will not refer someone to work who is hypertensive? is hypertensive is really a big deal? pls answer. thanks!!!

The aim is to use their contacts worldwide to perform a pre-employment medical check up from the country the candidate is recruited. Prasantha : The system you have told is perfectly correct. But further the report will be given only to the employer and the result should not be disclosed to the candidate by the Hospital authorities. Then there will be chances for getting the perfect healthy employees on your roles.
Praveen : Please do search in Google for finding out the list of reputed hospitals in the area where you are planning to select the candidate. You will find the contact details of those Hospitals. Make use of it and go with some agreement with those hospitals for conducting the Pre employment Medical Examination to the candidates those being referred.

Happened to see your old question, thought of adding this point to that.
Currently not many employers are using the medical reports for anything beyond the sole purpose of checkup. This data could be used to create an engaging wellness programme for the organisation. Employees would get involved in the wellness programme post such profiling and organisation can reap benefit to increase the wellness.
