National and Festival Holidays is not a central act and each state has its own.
Maharashtra, for example, does not have it at all.
Mr. HRDSIPCOT, will appreciate if you can share the name of the act and the relevant section.
As such, you are required to pay salary for a weekly off (which I assume is sunday in your company)
So if a sunday is a National Holiday, you pay the salary for that day, you do not have to pay extra for it, unless you are asking the employee to work on that national holiday

Every establishment in India shall observe/declare 3 national holidays i.e., Jan.26-Republic day; Aug.15th Independence day and Oct.2nd Gandhi Jayanthi. Rest of holidays to be finalised by the establishments concerned by consulting holidays list published by the Govt.of India in respect of central govt.offices and by the respective state govts. for the states concerned. Holidays thus declared, including weekly rest (sundays) / holidays are considered paid holidays. Any employee called to work on these holidays even if Sundays are entitled to holiday wages i.e. double of normal wages payable for working days. Some establishments indulge in giving compensatory holidays on some other days which is not correct.
