Hi All,
Can anyone tell me what exactly HR Generalist profile means?
What are the things included in this prifile?
If I want to apply than how can I apply for this profile?
What is the procedure?
I want to grow more than a Recruiter's profile.
Regards,

Hi All
I feel that 'HR Generalist' is only a mirage as in no big Company does one get to do all the functions underlined so deeply in the above posts.
Over a long period of time in one's career one might get exposure to many fields within the vast gamut of HR but in practicality differnt individuals are taking care of activities like policies,T&D, R&R, Employee engagement, payroll, C&B etc.......that is to say that it is not practical and not even happening in any big Company I know of that 1 single 'HR Executive' is taking care of all these functions simultaneously.
A person may become a 'HR Generalist maybe 10 years down the line when he is at a very senior position but in the short run it is really only for name sake that one may truly call himself a 'Generalist' in the exact meaning of the term.
And.....neither is it easy in this field especially for freshers.....atleast the first 2 years are gruelling.

Hi!
Badlu is right.
Not even Kapil Dev became an 'allrounder' overnight', so no need to lose heart for anyone for being 'Gavaskar' at present.
I am sure with time, one can become 'Kapil Dev' if one so desires strongly!
Cheers!

Hi All,
HR Generalist role is very limited in MNCs'. It is a part of talent delivery process. HR Generalist acts a Liason between employee and management. He/She should have knowledge on every aspect of HR function.

Hr Generalist or simply Hr Management Profile has and includes every aspect of Management of personnel for any organisation and exercise control and co-ordination activities in respect of employees for best functioning of organisation with the aim to align and achieve organisational goal. This not only needs the knowledge through books and qualifications but also the experience in knowing the employee as well as the company/organisation in terms of what is the vision, mission and how it will be achieved by the employees and what management is expecting out of each employee. Having said this, the whole process of HRM&HRD runs through a policy and there are possibilities to face problems which calls for expertise in IR & ER in resolving the issues and disputes. The Companies apart from qualifications look out for candidates who are resourceful, knowledgeable and has ample of experience in dealing and understanding people and employees in specific terms.

Frankly, 'HR Generalist' is a mirage. There isn't practically any such profile in any industry. At the very best I'd say it can exist in very small comapnies.
Basically, and universally, HR is divided into two aspects only : Recruitment, and Employee Relations.
Now, Employee Relations is a very wide umbrella term, which can include most, and all of the below functions:
a) Employee Engagement
b) Performance Management
c) Policies / Statutory Compliances
d) HR MIS (Various HR Reports, including Payroll)
e) Exits / F&F
f) Training & Development
g) Change Management / Strategic HR
I'd say only the very senior positions in any company could be called as 'HR Generalist' -- such as that of Head / VP - HR -- who essentially oversees each and every aspect of HR, including Recruitment. And for that a person must ideally have an overall experience in various HR functions spanning 12 or more number of years.
