Our establishment is covered under the Shops and Establishment Act of Karnataka. How many National Holidays and Festival Holidays are permissible in a year as per the Act?

In Karnataka you have to give 5 national holidays (26th January, 1st May, 15th August, 2nd October and 1st November) and 5 festival holidays. The national holidays are fixed as mentioned but the festival holidays shall be declared in consultation with the employees considering their religious and regional sentiments.

What Mr. Madhu stated is right. Little explanation 5 holidays in consultation with union/representatives of employees. Festival holidays to be considered based on the majority religion of employees or regional festivals.
