Suppose we are hiring an employee in an IT firm, according to the Maharashtra Shops and Establishment Law. How many sick leaves or casual leaves are mandatory to be provided apart from paid leaves to the employee?

What if the probation period is 6 months? Is it mandatory to allot sick and casual leaves to the person who is on probation?

Normally Leave Policy is essentially an internal matter of the company. Most of the companies have standard practice of categorising the leaves as PL/EL, CL & SL totalling 30 leaves granted in a year.
PL/EL - 15 days, CL - 7 days &:;SL - 8 days. Availment of CL & SL can't be clubbed together.
While CL/SL automatically lapse at the year end. But the PL/EL are freezed for encashment or the remaining balance can be carried forward to the year ahead.
