Confirmation before the end of probationary period is employer specific.
There is no need to add a clause in the Appointment letter. Whenever the employee on Probation period is performing well you may confirm the employee directly stating that "based on your performance for the period under review your services with the company is confirmed with effect from____."

rkn61To be precise on this, you need to adhere to the Recruitment/Selection/Appointment policy of the company. If probation confirmation period is stated to be written as six months, allow him to work upto six months and then confirm his services.
However, if your company management is very particular about his probation period to be reduced
and confirm him/her, your HR Department can issue a letter of confirmation, citing the reason of his superior performance, in his/her current job (But please make sure that necessary approvals may be taken from management,(MD or Director or CEO) for making such deviations from the policy, properly document the same, and keep in his/her personal file).
