Hi Anjana,

The first step in preparing a training calendar is to identify the training needs. This can be done with the help of Head of Departments. Otherwise if your company is maintaining a training module, you can issue this modules to HODs and ask them to suggest which training they would like to provide to their team members.

Make a specific format for training need identification of employees. But I think it will be difficult for you to maintain training need identification of this much employees. Just make a survey of various training requirements among the departments and this can make your job easier.

Once you identify the major training requirements of your organisation you can easily prepare a training calendar. Plan training in such a way that you should be able to implement the training and it doesn't hampers the production of your organisation too.

Inorder to implement the trainings successfully you have to create awareness among the HODs the importance of this training and benefits the organisation has once we strictly adheres to the training plan.

I would rather suggest to keep a specific day for training activities as training is also an essential thing both for the development of organisation and employee itself.

I hope my suggestion will be helpful to you.

Hello friends,

PROCESS FLOW CHART OF MAKING TRAINING CALENDER IS HERE UNDER:

1. IDENTIFY THE TRAINING NEEDS

a) With consultation of HODs b) Thru Questionnaire

c) Thru PMS d) Thru other source which

used in your company.

2. COMPLIED ALL TRAINING SUBJECTS

3. IDENTIFY FACULTY FOR ALL TRAINING

a) In House b) Out side

4. MAKE TRAINING BUDGET & TAKE APPROVAL FOR IT.

5. MAKE TRAINING CALENDER MONTHWISE & MATCH IT WITH

THE TARGET OF YOUR COMPANY'S (HOW MUCH HOURS U HAVE TO

PROVIDE TRAINING IN A MONTH ?)

6. GIVE ADVANCE INTIMATION TO ALL THE MEMBERS TO HAVE TO

ATTEND TRAINING ALONGWITH THEIR HOD'S. SO THAT THEY

COULD FREE THEM AT THE TIME OF TRAINING.

7. GET ATTENDANCE OF ALL THE PARTICIPANTS. GET FEEDBACK

ABOUT THE TRAINER & STUDY MATERIAL.

8. ASSESS THE PARTICIPANTS AFTER THREE MONTHS OR WHATEVER

TIME DECIDED IN YOUR COMPNAY FOR TRAINING EFFECTIVENESS.

9. IF NOT SATIFIED BY TRAINING EFFECTIVENESS, AGAIN SEND THE

EMPLOYEE FOR TRAINING AND FIND OUT SUITABLE REASONS FOR

NOT EFFECTIVENESS.

Hi Vyas,

Training calendars can be monthly, quarterly or yearly. Incase all behavioral training programs are externally conducted it would be a half - yearly or yearly calendar.

Incase of training being partially inhouse and external it would be a quartely calendar.

Completely inhouse training calendars are mostly monthly and is mailed out to all concerned by the middle of the previous month.

When putting together a training calendar check:

1) List of public or company given holidays

2) Departmental occasions like client visits or audits

3) Look at the availability of all training resources i.e. rooms / venue and trainer - external and internal

4) Look at covering various audiences in a month to ensure successful implementation. The same employee group / department should not have more than 2 training days in a month. It makes it difficult for departments to spare those many productive days for that employee.

Successful Implementation of any training calendar can only take place with Top management and Department heads advocating it. Follow up and emails could work. Also visibility mediums or internal communications could generate interest. Top Mang and HODs will only consider training programs if there is a need for it. So to sell the benefits should start with identifying the need.

Do let me know if this was helpful,
