Notice period - Is notice period valid even after probation period ends?

My probation period is ending in 20days ,and I informed them that I will be discontinuing my job after that because of parents health,
In the contract it is written that I have to inform them before 3 months if I wish you resign. Is notice period valid even after probation period ends? Do I need to follow this notice period. Please help
