Hi, It is Company specific. You may fix based on your Company Policy on interns

Interns stipend may be more than 21K per month consolidated. Then technically they are not eligible for PF & ESI. Otherwise, for stipend - PF & ESI is normally not attracting. But if the intern is working in technical areas where chances of accident is there, in those cases if the stipend is below 21K per month- ESIC authority may raise question. Even beyond PF & ESI COVERAGE, for technical job exposure- due to possibility of accident better to have EC Insurance coverage and any other extra insurance - Group personal Accident Insurance etc.

If student/s from Government recognized collages, and respective collage given letter for internship, then it will not attract PF/ESI. If student/s from private collage than you have to deduct their PF/ESI.

If you are not deducting ESI, then take EC / WC (workman's compensation) policy as suggested by Mr. S K Bandyopadhyay.

It is strongly recommended that you to check and confirm the above and take decision.
