Hi,

First of all you need to identify the training need of the employees of your Organisation. As a Organisaton what is the goal of your Company, objectives and future plans and what type of job tasks assigned to employees to achieve that goal. Identify and determine where the individual or team is lacking in terms of completing the daily assignment within the stipulated time frame. Then decide what type of training required :- Technical / soft skills training etc.

Dear Pooja Khare,

You are from a manufacturing company. Therefore, your company's primary need is to manage the following costs:

a) Inventory Carrying Cost of Raw Materials
b) Work in Progress (WIP) Inventory Costs
c) Inventory Carrying Cost of Finished Goods
d) Maintenance costs
g) Ordering cost
e) Set up cost

In addition to the above, the measurement of the following costs is important:

f) Cost of Quality (COQ) and
g) Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ)
h) Total Supply Chain Cost

I recommend you organise the training to minimise the above costs. Training efforts have to be addressed to reduce costs or to improve productivity ratios. Otherwise, it is just a waste of the organisation's resources. The productivity ratios are:

i) Labour productivity
ii) Machine productivity
iii) Single-factor productivity
iv) Multiple-factor productivity

What I have recommended is a departure from the traditional view of HR professionals towards training and development. However, if you do not focus on cost reduction or productivity improvement, you will not be able to measure the training effectiveness also. Therefore, whatever training programme you arrange, decide when will you measure its effectiveness, and on what parameters will you measure.

Is your company an ISO 9000 company? If yes, then organise training programmes to implement the principles of quality management outlined in the ISO manual.
