Hi, I need to clear a clause mentioned in my appointment letter under notice period, that is:

"Post confirmation, services may be terminated by either party, giving two months’ notice, which comprises a non-negotiable mandatory working period of 1 month, with the remainder of the notice period being negotiable on both sides (to agree the release date & salary payment in lieu of notice if any)."

I am very confused about there are 2 time periods are mentioned in this clause- 2 months also and 1 month also.
Can anyone please clearly explain this clause to me?

Hi,

Which means out of 2 months notice period 1 month notice period is compulsary ( means you need to serve one month notice by working and can't pay and adjust) and the balance 1 month either can be adjusted in lieu of salary or employer can relieve you at a date based on your work completion without adjusting salary.

so you need to work one month compulsorily and cannot request for early relieving by paying money.
