Dear Sunakshi,

The COVID-19 pandemic has altered the mindset of everybody. Hereafter, hybrid work is going to be the norm forever. Against this backdrop, there could be resistance from the employees if you issue any kind of diktat.

Therefore, I recommend you send an email to the managers/HOD asking them to prepare a weekly or fortnightly roster on who will work from home and who will work from the office. The strict implementation of the roster will be the responsibility of each HOD.

If the directions come from the HOD, then they are liable to be obeyed more. If you are from the HR department, then the employees may not take that seriously. While there will be an effect of your "strict" email, it may not last long and things may come back to square one. In that case, what will you do?

Thanks,

How hard is it to write an email that says that there is to be no working from home without your manager's permission?

Just write the email, add in the penalties for not complying with the rules, and send it.

In the time you have spent writing this post, you could have written the email and sent it. Don't overthink things. It is only an email.

Dear Sunakshi,

After the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic way of working have been changed for the employees. Mandatory office working replaced by the Hybrid working & it shall be in practice in future too. It has altered the mindset of everybody. Even after the pandemic is over than there will be great hu & cry if you ask employees to WFO.

Therefore, it is suggested to you send an email to the managers/HOD asking them to prepare a weekly / fortnightly roster on who will work from home and who will work from the office. The strict implementation of the roster will be the responsibility of each HOD.

If the directions come from the HOD, then they are liable to be obeyed more. Hope this will serve your purpose.
