Dear sir, I'm working in a private manufacturing company in Tamil Nadu.
It will be very helpful if anyone shall be able to provide clarification for my below doubts.

1. How much Professional tax do I need to pay if my gross salary is ₹18,000/month? Are there any slab rates?

2. My company deducts the professional tax from my salary once for every 6 months. Can it be paid by every month ? ( As the amount deducted for esi & pf).

3. We can confirm the deducted amount of pf & esi using uan login & esi websites. Also we recieve messages in phone acknowledging the receipt. Similarly can we able to check whether my company has paid my professional tax?

4. Different websites says different slab rates for professional tax. Some say it depends on like Chennai corporation has different rates, madurai corporation has different rates, town panchayat has different rates etc. some says the rate is fixed for entire Tamil Nadu. Is there any govt websites providing the actual rates?

5. Is there any law for professional tax ?

Kindly help me to know about these things.

Thanking you

Best Regards
Shameem

You may reference this site, as it has an accurate update of the requirements :

https://www.simpliance.in/profession...ail/tamil-nadu

The TN Website I think is slightly older and not updated recently
What is confusing about that page is that it is not referring to monthly salary but 6-monthly salary.

Therefore anyone getting less than ₹ 21,000 per 6 months (₹ 3,500) is exempt
and the slabs then go upwards

So an employee with salary of ₹ 18,000 per month will be in the highest slab (which is actually 1,250 per 6 month now, not what is on the site). You need to pay every 6 months, but you may deduct every month if you wish. Remember that if someone leaves, you will need to pay for him also, though he does not get salary in that month when the payment is due.

Yes, there is a law, called The Tamil Nadu Tax on Professions, Trades, Callings and Employments Act, 1992
and you also need to see : The Tamilnadu Village Panchayats (Collection of Tax on Profession, Trade,
Calling and Employment) Rules, 2000 (which is issued under Panchayat Act, not under the PT Act)
