Dinesh DivekarDear Jyotsna,
Whether the engagement activities really engage the employees to the organisation, and if engaged, then is it a shallow one is a moot point. Nevertheless, in the 21st century, where gender equality is professed in all walks of life, will it not be sanctimonious to create special events for the day for a particular gender?
Marketers prefer the celebration of this or that day because it helps them sell their products. Nevertheless, should modern women, who have broken many glass ceilings, see through their game and say "No" to the rigmarole of the allocation of a day for them? What has been achieved in the past women's days which were laced with the pomp and puffed vanity?
Of course, these are my personal views.

aussiejohnIf you have problems with employee engagement in your organisation, your first steps are to find out why this problem exists.
Playing silly games achieves nothing. Most employees hate these sorts of things with a passion and it doesn't solve the problems of overwork, poor management, poor pay, lack of opportunity for advancement, and bad working conditions, all of which can contribute to staff disengagement.
