Dear Senior, I am working on the payroll for the first time so we are planning to change the Calculation method considering the new wages code which says the Basic component should be 50%. Since we need to also maintain Minimum wages rules without increasing the Overall CTC of any employee. So wanted to check can we different basic calculation methods for different pay Bands.

Dear Colleague,
First off all our appreciations for this drive before the code is getting implemented. The date is uncertain. Think before doing as it will add your cost on Gratuity, Leave Wages and PF and so on.

You may keep all reworking ready and then take off as and when the Code is implemented. You may work out like Basic+ DA+ Retaining Allowance should be 50% of total Salary Package and remaining 50% may be any other allowances you want to provide. You may go band wise and no bar but adhere to this principle.

For those covered under Minimum Wages you may retain as it is as per Minimum Wages components.

Better you do once Code is implemented by keeping all the working ready like Ready - Set- Go. Or else you will incur more cost from now on which may hit your Wage Bill.
