Hello all, I have been working in an IT firm locally as a software developer and it's been 4+ years in the company.
Now for growth, I have mailed my resignation to the Head of Organization, HR Team, and my Project Manager. I have also stated that I am ready to serve the notice period and KT (Knowledge Transfer). The next day I have logged in for work. I didn't get any response from anyone in the Organization. After waiting I made a call to the Head of Manager and expressed my reasons for resignation and asked him for the reply mail by including how many days should I serve notice period or KT as I don't know how many days and there is no section regarding notice period in the offer letter, which I have received on joining in the company.

He didn't confirm the days and cut the call in middle by saying, first complete the KT to the team, after that we will have the conversation.
I have completed the KT in one week and I mailed to those all regarding the completion of KT. I have also logged into work 2 days after completing KT.
After 2 days, I have received a call from the HR Team, they said that first submit the office laptop in the office then we will have a conversation. As we are working from home in this pandemic. I have been receiving calls from the office, all they are saying is that the Head of the Organization wants me to submit a laptop, then we will have a conversation and until the submission of the laptop, I will not get any response from the organization. I have messaged and tried to make calls, but no response. They have also stated that, If I will not submit the laptop in the office, they will cut my pay for this month and they never ask about laptop and they will never respond in the future.

I have the following questions/doubts - Shall I submit the laptop?
I didn't get any response for my resignation up to 24 hours and my KT mail up to 48hours, how would I believe that I can get a response from the organization, after submitting laptop?

What should I do to get my resignation approval, as I have all emails, messages properly?
How another company will hire me with this background of previous company and without any relieving letter and experience letter from previous organization?
The work, I have done for all these years is useless?

Please suggest me the best way for me to get out of this.
Thanks & Regards.

You should return the company's property (laptop). In fact, you are not entitled to keep it with you for want of approval of resignation and/or payment of full and final dues.

As regards, their not accepting your resignation, as per settled principles of law, no employer can force the employee to work with them, i.e. an employee is always at liberty to resign as per his/her terms of employment.

While you pursue for the acceptance of resignation and a formal communication relieving you from service, you are also apprehensive of non-response from the organisation. Well, is it the track record of the organisation? As regards your previous experience, the recruiters will not go by the certificate alone, although it is the first proof. But the same could be assessed by asking the right questions and if you fare well then no further proof is required. You can explain this to anyone and this is a industry wide known practice, particularly in the software sector. It is better to get out of such places as fast as is possible.

Thank you sir for reply,

Yes it is the track record of the organization, that they will not provide any service, relieving letters and any verification approval for employee regarding further. Even they don't provide monthly payslips too, there will be no consistent appreciation or hike yearly.
Yes I have all the proofs, which state that I have been working on the company, bank statements and emails that I have sent regarding resignation and notice period and submission of office assets. But no single email has gotten reply only one way communication.
Are these enough for me to crack another opportunity and I am sure, if organization will get any verification email from my new employer, that won't be replied. Will that effect my carrer?
Please suggest me.
Thanks & Regards.
