Dear All,
During the Covid Lockdown Period, quite a few employees were working from home. Will they eligible for Bonus for the period when they were working from home or physical attendance in office is mandatory for claiming bonus? Please guide.

Method of the execution of the work and disbursement of the payment of bonus are two unrelated things.
The Payment of Bonus Act, 1965 does not stipulate rendering the work at the company's premises only. Modern workplaces will be different from traditional workplaces. A few employees could work from home permanently, a few only at the company premises and a few others will have a hybrid method of working. However, irrespective of the method of working, the entitlement of the bonus remains the same as is for the disbursement for the salaries and wages.

The employees who had put 30 days working between 1.04.20 to 31.03.21 are eligible for bonus irrespective of working either from home or at office/workplace. The management has to decide the quantum of bonus as per the rules considering their input of service.
