Hello, I need your advice in getting a solution to one problem related to PF.
One of my friends was working in a Company on a Contractual basis and due to some loss that company was sold to another company. Here is the legal entity was changing so all contractual workers were asked to put resignation and then were re-hired and placed to takeovered company. All necessary process related to relieving was performed, all were relieved from one company and re-joined as well as placed to another takeover company.
Now here Primary Company is not changing but the deputation Company is changing and as per the primary company's norm they have to close old company details by putting the exit date and re-open the new PF account with a new number. However, this primary company in PF portal had done a serious mistake i.e. they have used the old PF number of 1st company and linked that old PF number with the existing 2nd company which is wrong and no new account was opened. But as per the process to create new and second service history they have to assign a new PF account number which was not done. It was highlighted to HR Dept but they are saying nothing can be done.
Need your advice to correct this issue, what step should that company's HR Dept would follow to make necessary changes or where and whom that person should approach and two service history can be shown in PF portal.

In this case first of all first company had to update date of exit in their EPFO employer portal & after that they have to show the very next date as date of joining into the current company. After which current company have to draft the letter to PF department mentioning his new PF number alloted to the employee & asked PF dept to transfer his contribution to his new PF number.

Now employees have UAN number and this is used for all registrations in any EPF, account no is always new generated but UAN remains same
