Hi All,

The LTS agreement of our company will expire in the next couple of months. Considering the current scenario, our management wants to extend the same agreement until business improves or for an indefinite period. Additionally, we need to retrench some workers, including union members. Therefore, I kindly request everyone to provide your valuable input on how we can handle this situation positively and avoid any industrial relations issues.

Thank you.

Though commonly called LTS, such Bi-Partite or Tripartite Agreements/Settlements are Term/Period Specific with an Expiry Date. As is the precedence, Registered Trade Unions come up with a New Charter of Demands and are Ready for Negotiations. This is also a way to demonstrate that the concerned TU still represents the Majority and enjoys unstinted support of its Members, keeping at bay Splinter Unionism or inter or intra TU rivalries, a feature not uncommon. Take the TU into confidence in case you nurture a Healthy & Harmonious IR scenario and co-create mutual Trust and, in the shortest time, execute a Newer Agreement/Settlement.

As far as need-based Rationalization of Workforce is concerned, begin Dialogue with Registered TU with a view to convince that there is No Ulterior motive but Sustainability of ongoing Org.

May you succeed.
