Hi,

One of my friends has not come to the office for the last couple of months due to regular absences. His company marked him as absent and shows 30 days as NCP days in PF ECR for May and June. According to my friend, he resigned on 15-05-2020. However, due to some technical issues caused by the lockdown and the shifting of his old company, they received his resignation on the 4th of July. In the meantime, he joined the new company on 25-05-2020, and PF is applicable in this company as well.

Now, the question is which exit date to update for the online transfer of PF since his contribution is nil for May and June in the previous company due to his absences.

Kindly advise on the appropriate steps to ensure a smooth online transfer can be completed.

In this scenario, the key consideration for the online transfer of PF is to ensure accuracy and compliance with the regulations. Here are the steps to address the situation effectively:

1. Verify Resignation Date: Since your friend states that he resigned on 15-05-2020, the official resignation date should be considered as the date he initiated the resignation process, not the date the company received it due to technical delays.

2. Joining Date at New Company: As your friend joined the new company on 25-05-2020, this becomes his active employment date for the new PF account.

3. Exit Date for PF Transfer: Given the circumstances of absenteeism and delayed resignation acceptance, the exit date for the previous company should align with the last working day before joining the new company. Therefore, the appropriate exit date for the online PF transfer would be 24-05-2020.

4. Consult HR/Finance Department: It is advisable for your friend to consult the HR or Finance department of the previous company to ensure the correct exit date is updated in the PF records for a seamless transfer process.

5. Online Transfer Process: Once the exit date is confirmed and updated, your friend can proceed with the online transfer request through the Unified Portal of EPFO https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.g...mberinterface/.

By following these steps and ensuring accurate documentation, your friend can facilitate a smooth online transfer of PF from the previous company to the new one, maintaining compliance with PF regulations in India. 🔄
