Is taking unplanned leave is marked as behavior issue?
Actually i took a leave which was already informed to my Team Leader and which is approved but suddenly i received an email from my TL looping my manager in that email stating that is will be marked as Unplanned leave and this is marked under my performance as Behavior issue.

Hi,

Repeated unplanned/uninformed/unauthorized/unjustified leaves amounts to behaviour issues. Unplanned leaves results in performance in terms pending /unattended work assigned work. In your case you claim that even though you have informed your TL about your leave later got email that leave is unapproved. It is not clear whether you got the leave approved orally by the TL or it is duly signed approved by the Superior in the leave card. To avoid last minute confusion/changes as quoted by you, it is advisable to discuss leaves well in advance (where ever possible) and get it recorded in the leave card or other online system whatever you follow.

Unplanned leave due to sudden illness/death of close relative is exempted from the above, provided it is proved and justified. Those unplanned will not fall under behavior issues.

Resolve the issue and explain your situation to the Manager/TL and solve it amicably.

Dear colleague ,

If your version that your leave was approved is to be believed, then there is no behaviour issue on your part. On the contrary, the behavior issue in that case is with your TL.

If you are right, escalate this matter to higher authority with the document / proof.

Dear Pranjal,

When the employee submits a leave application, it gets approved also but then if the approval is revoked, it must be told to the applicant. But then do you have evidence of approval of leave?

Have you spoken with your TL as to why has he changed his stand on the leave? What is his take on his action? I recommend you putting up application but then it is important to talk to TL and Manager.

Nevertheless, can anyone construe that the action of TL signifies strained relations between you and your TL? There appears to be more than what meets the eye.

Thanks,

Dinesh Divekar
