Dear All,
I want to know what is the standard leave policy in Maharashtra as my current employer has made provisions for 4 mandatory public holidays and only 12 paid leaves annually (no provision for SL/CL etc) and also any specific leave policy for employees immediate family member death. I want to give proper suggestion as an HR. please guide. if there are also any legal implications on the above leave policy which is existing.

Statutory leaves are compulsory as per the Act under which your establishment is covered. If your Establishment is covered under Shops and Establishment Act then please refer Maharashtra Shops and Establishment Act and follow leave rules as stipulated over there.
with regard to National /Festival Holidays it is 4 National Holidays and 5 Festival Holidays to be given to employees. Festival holidays as per important festivals of your jurisdiction.
With regard to leave for immediate family member death, it is employer specific either separate leave may be considered or to be adjusted from accrued leave account of employees.
