While the employee has applied a casual leave on 05.05.2017 and left to the native place there after suffered a heart attack and died the same day. The EPF office has rejected the claim for EDLI to the nominee as the date of leaving the service is mentioned as 04.05.2017 by the contractor, the widow surviving by two children is illerate hence signed the claim form unknowingly. She has the leave letter of her husband as a proof that he is in service till the death. Any suggestion to help her out
This is very common mistake by lot of contractors for lack of knowledge. Ask the contractor to meet the respective PF office with all facts - Casual leave application for 05.05.2017 ( In absence of any application may be the attendance register showing against the date as CL). There must be one forwarding letter stating the fact with documentation. Contractor has to proof that the concerned employee was on the roll of the Company on 05.05.2017 , the day of the expire of the employee otherwise PF authority will not settle the EDLI Claim.

When contacted with the EPF office regarding the same it was informed that since epf is already processed and closed. No further claim is entertained. The nominee is advised to initiate an case against contractor. Which she cannot afford.
At EPFO site put the grievance & write a letter to CPFC with all documentation. It has to be mentioned that due mistake of putting the date, EDLI claim has been rejected which has caused suffering to widow and her children. The matter is already delayed but no harm to take an honest attempt if the EDLI claim may be settled.

Hi, This has to be addressed to higher officials at PF Office Assistant Commissioner level and they can help on humanitarian basis.Please submit a explanatory letter.
The matter could be agitated before the Adalats functioning in the local court.
An explanatory letter stating the facts has been addressed to EPF office but the department is reluctant in settling the claim. The grievance has been raised online with Epf barkatpura office 12 days back but no redressal or trying to contact as happened till date
